01 DISCOGRAPHY

Music with a story
already in mind.

Electronic music, piano, imaginary game worlds and the occasional collaboration. I have been making music for a long time, and these records are a fairly accurate account of where my imagination tends to wander.

Homage

A thank you to the people who made me fall in love with music.

Homage is a tribute to the artists I grew up listening to, particularly Vangelis, Kraftwerk and Jean-Michel Jarre. Their music showed me how synthesizers could create both emotion and entire worlds of sound.

The album draws on those early influences through atmospheric textures, rhythmic sequences and cinematic melodies, while leaving room for my own ideas. It is a thank you to the musicians who made me want to start composing. I doubt they knew what they were getting into.

The Verdict

One idea. Three composers. No agreed answer.

The Verdict started with a simple piano theme and an invitation to see what three composers would do with it. I wrote the original and then took it apart again for an IDM version. Apparently I was not quite finished with it the first time.

SinSonic turned the theme into driving techno, while adrianbluh took it somewhere quieter and more atmospheric. We started with the same notes and ended up in three different places. That was the whole point.

KEYS

Six pieces. One piano. Very little to hide behind.

After spending years surrounded by synthesizers, sound design and arrangements with rather a lot going on, I wanted to write something simpler. KEYS is six instrumental pieces for piano, built around melody and the space between the notes.

There are traces of classical music, ambient and film scores here, along with a fair amount of melancholy and a little hope. I have deliberately left the stories open. You can decide what each piece is about. I have already done the difficult part of sitting at the piano.

Nautilus Rising (Original Soundtrack)

Music for a game that hasn't been made. Yet.

Nautilus Rising began as an imagined game world. I had its story, atmosphere and characters in mind long before there was anything to play. The soundtrack came first, which is perhaps not the usual order for game development.

Inspired by the sense of adventure in classics such as Monkey Island and Broken Sword, the music moves between curiosity, danger and discovery. It stands on its own as an album, but there is a bigger world behind it if you want to explore.

Uncanny Valley cover artwork

05 / ALBUM 2024

Uncanny Valley

Familiar enough to be unsettling.

Uncanny Valley takes its name from that uncomfortable feeling when something looks or feels almost right, but not quite. The music follows much the same idea, with eerie synths, distant choirs and melancholy piano.

It is dark in places, strangely beautiful in others, and not especially interested in making you feel comfortable. Sometimes that is exactly what I want from a piece of music.

Corona (1 October 2000)

Corona was released on 1 October 2000. These days, it lives in my analogue and digital archives rather than on streaming services. I might give it a remaster and release it again at some point. For now, it is enjoying a quiet retirement.
